E-Book Coming Soon

I see Dead and Alive Media as a cooperative that embraces and rejects the mayfly lifespan of literary works that are born out of someone's labor of love and that die disappears into an oceanic event horizon which I will call library clearance sales. I hope to resurrect out-of-print but innovative 2nd-edition literary works and translations as experimental digital media projects. While I wish I could say here, "We explore indie works with multimedia expressions that captivate and inspire," I have in fact tied myself and only myself to this mast until I experiment on the only water-nymph-in-waiting on my shelves, which is to say, The Arc and the Sediment, to see if it might shed its skin to wing into a 2nd, multimedia existance. While I develop the multimedia 2nd edition, however, I'm reissuing the first edition on Apple Books. First editions in print are rare and overly expensive but sometimes I'm asked by someone if they can buy my book, so I requested copyright return to me, which was generously granted.

Watch for Halloween Painting Sale

Before a story becomes prose on a page, it usually arrives in my head as a vivid, persistent visual flash. I don't consider myself a traditional fine painter—I paint out of narrative necessity. These canvases serve as my visual conceptual sketches: atmospheric entry points, character studies, and mood boards for stories I am actively planning and writing. By opening up this gallery, I’m sharing the raw, visual seeds of the worlds being built here at Dead and Alive Media. But this space isn't meant to remain a solo show forever. I’m using my own narrative artwork as the initial prototype to test and build this platform. Once the foundation is settled, my goal is to open these digital walls into a true creative cooperative—inviting other narrative artists, illustrators, and visual storytellers to promote their work, share their visions, and collaborate under one roof. This dream calls for fundraising, so they're for sale at $1 an inch plus shipping. Inquire about sizes if you see something that interests you.

MY NEW HYBRID WORK, SPOLIA

Evolving from a doctoral dissertation into an ambitious, highly experimental hybrid work, Spolia explores trauma, memory, and spatial displacement across a complex, multi-tiered architecture. The manuscript opens in Part 1 with a grounded, non-linear autofiction documenting a voyage through contemporary Turkey, before shifting into Part 2’s speculative, interventionalist landscape—where the narrative's central motifs undergo surreal transformations through talking, broken sculptures and the hauntological afterlives of the Ephesian brothels. Part 3 gathers these conceptual threads into a series of paratactic, darkly humorous islands composed of myth, instructional how-tos, and linguistic artifacts inspired by the 14th-century Codex Cumanicus. To complement this textual matrix, the book integrates a custom deck of literary cards featuring original hand-painted images; moving beyond traditional tarot, these multimodal cards align characters, scientific equations, psychosocial theories, and philosophical frameworks into an interactive storytelling engine that readers can actively deploy alongside the prose.
